Meet Marilyn

Marilyn Davidson is a fourth generation Oklahoman who proudly calls Oklahoma City and Ward 2 her home. She is a small-business owner, advocate, wife, and mother to a second grader in the Oklahoma City Public Schools system.

She received her undergraduate degree in public relations from the University of Central Oklahoma where she was given an award for Outstanding Contribution to the University by an Individual for her many hours dedicated to student government and other campus activities. She later attended Oklahoma City University where she earned her masters in business administration.

Marilyn is married to Myles, an employee with Oklahoma County. They live with their son and two rescue dogs in the heart of Ward 2 and enjoy spending their weekends exploring the city.

Commitment to her state

After graduation Marilyn worked for the State Senate as a legislative aide helping research legislation and handle constituent concerns from across the state. In 2009, she began working for the American Heart Association as their Government Relations Director. In this role she advocated for smoke-free workplace policies, better nutrition in schools, and the increased use of school facilities for gathering spaces and physical activity. During this time, she served in leadership positions with the Oklahoma Alliance on Health or Tobacco, the Oklahoma Fit Kids Coalition, and the Oklahoma Health Improvement Plan working group.

Most recently, Marilyn served the state as the Legislative Liaison for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. In this role she counseled the Board of Corrections helping them define and implement their legislative agenda. She also served as a liaison to community leaders to communicate the goals and critical needs of the agency. During this time, Marilyn was instrumental in guiding the agency through the criminal justice reform process.

History of Giving Back

Marilyn believes in giving back to the community that has given so much to her family. That is why she has chosen to spend her career improving the state and why she dedicates so much of her free time to volunteering for causes she believes in.

Marilyn is actively involved in her son’s school with the parent-teacher association. She currently serves on the alumni board for the University of Central Oklahoma helping to direct alumni activities and engage new alumni. Previously she has been involved with N.E.W. Leadership through the University of Oklahoma, L.O.Y.A.L. with Leadership Oklahoma City, and the young professionals board at the Oklahoma City Zoo.
